Abstract

PURPOSE: To form narrow track type magnetic head cores to such a high quality in which crosstalks are less and chipping does not occur by applying track width forming working to a pair of core material blocks before forming core gaps.

CONSTITUTION: Grooves 15, 16 having raised parts 13, 14 of a width equal to track width are formed by grinding to the gap forming faces of a first core material block 26 and a second core material block 27. Next, while observing with a microscope so as to let the positions of the raised parts 13, 14 coincide, the blocks 26, 27 which have been deposited with a slight amount of sufficiently finely selected alumina powder 18 near the gap forming face of one of block in such a manner that the central value of the core gap width tolerances becomes the central value of particle size distribution, are butted together and are fixed by means of a bonding agent. The contact points 19 with the alumina powder of rather larger particle sizes produce core material block spacings 17 close to the central value of the particle size distribution because the core material block faces recess through plastic deformation. Next, glass material is melted into the clearance of the gaps.
