PURPOSE:To enable a digitally recording and reproducing rotary magnetic head to effect the parallel processing of two tracks by interposing a common I-type core between special C-type cores having stepped portions formed with a gap and a winding space. CONSTITUTION:Ferrite blocks 11 and 11' and ceramic blocks 12 and 12' are jointed to form winding spaces 15 and 15'. Moreover, the blocks 11 and 11' are formed with the stepped portions such as grooves 14 and 14' for determining the shape of a gap and the width of the tracks. The resultant C-type cores 20 and 20' are bonded with glass through a common I-type core 13, and the grooves 14 and 14' are filled up with glass. Then, the side to face a magnetic tape is finished, and the winding is accomplished in the spaces 15 and 15'. Although four gaps 16, 16', 21 and 21' are formed of the grooves 14 and 14', only the gaps 16 and 16' are used for recording and reproducing purposes.
