Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce running cost by conducting the regeneration of ion exchange resin at two stages introducing repeatedly and sequently in short time the upward flow of a regenerating agent with a flow rate enough to expand the ion exchange resin layer and the upward flow of the regenerating agent with a flow rate slighly slower than the foregoing regenerating agent.
CONSTITUTION: The pure water 11 is obtained by treating the original water 1 through the strong acid cation exchange resin 2-packed K tower 3, the decarboxylation tower 5, and the strong basic anion exchange resin 9-packed A tower 10, and then the regeneration of the K tower or the A tower is carried out in a two-stage upward flow manner, in which regenerating agent is flowed in from the intake 20 at the lower part of the tower at a flow rate enough to expand the resin layer(e.g., 5 to 20 m/H for K tower and 2 to 7 m/H for A tower), and then the regenerating agent is flowed in at a flow rate slower than the foregoing case(e.g., 1 to 5 m/H for K tower and 1 to 3 m/H for A tower), where the inflow of both different flow rates of regenerating agent is repeatedly and sequently every 0.5 to 5 sec.
