Abstract

PURPOSE: To equalize the density of press-formed body totally by a method wherein, in the case of press-forming a high melting point metal powder to a rod like shape having cut-away surfaces at both end portions thereof, the said powder material is press-formed positioning the cut-away surfaces parallel to the pressurizing direction.
CONSTITUTION: A minute amount of Al, K, Si or the like is added to and mixed with high m.p. metal powder such as W, Mo or the like as a doping agent. This mixture is pressurized and formed by an upper punch 8, a lower punch 9, a mold main body 7 to prepare a rod like formed body 1 having cut-away surfaces 2 at both end portions. In this case, a lower punch 9 is formed so as to position a cut-away surface 7b parallel to a pressurizing direction of an upper punch 8. The above described mixture 10 is received between an upper and a lower punch 8, 9 and pressurised by an upper punch 8 to mold a rod shape 1 having cut-away surfaces 2. Because a distance between an upper and a lower punch is equal at any portions, total pressurizing density is equalized and, in case of applying an electric current and sintering while both ends are grasped by a holder, an uniform sintering condition is totally attained.
