Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an uniform and dense film on grain-oriented silicone steel plate by retaining the viscosity of a MgO slurry to be coated before annealing at more than a specific value in the formation of a forsterite electrically insulating film on the surface of the silicone steel plate. CONSTITUTION:In the formation of a forsterite (2MgO.SiO2) electrically insulating film on the surface of a Si(3%)-containing grain-oriented silicone steel plate, a MgO-containing slurry whose viscosity is kept at 40 CP or more by adding CO2 gas or dry ice to the slurry to prevent the hydration of MgO is uniformly coated on the surface of the steel plate, and then the steel plate so coated with MgO uniformly is annealed to approx. 1200 deg.C to form an uniform and dense forsterite film on the surface of the steel plate.
