Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a salicylaldehyde clathrate compound obtained by including salicylaldehyde with cyclodextrin as a host compound, and to provide a stable and non-irritant carcinostatic agent containing the clathrate compound as an effective component. CONSTITUTION:A salicylaldehyde clathrate compound obtained by including salicylaldehyde with cyclodextrin as a host compound. The clathrate compound thus obtained is dried under aeration or in vacuum to obtain odorless white powder completely free from tackiness. The compound is useful as a novel carcinostatic agent, and the preparation prepared therefrom is resistant to autoxidation because of the powder form of the effective component. The strong irritating properties of salicylaldehyde can be eliminated, and the compound can be formed to various easily handleable preparations.
