- Length Measuring Devices With Unspecified Measuring Means (AREA)
Abstract
PURPOSE: To compensate the position of a measuring element thereby to make it possible to accomplish the accurate measurement by locating the position, where the value obtainable from a fine meter assumes its maximum, while moving the measuring element at a right angle with respect to the radial moving direction.
CONSTITUTION: The guide center of the rotations of the measuring element 21 of a fine meter 2 is aligned as much as possible with the center of the arc of a test piece 6. Under the condition having the element 21 contacting with the plane to be metered, the element 21 is moved at a right angle with respect to the radial direction by a fine adjustor 4. If the contact of the element is positioned at a point A, the direction of the contact whit respect to the rotation guide center of the element is always aligned with the magnification calibration direction irrespective of the size of the radius of curvature of the test piece. As a result, the error of the contact point of the element is compensated. After this compensation, if the element 21 is moved on the basis of the guide center, the accurate circle and arc measurements can be performed.
