Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the structural analysis of substances easier by permitting mass analysis using pure chemical ions by providing a sample ionization chamber and a reacting gas ioniaztion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Sample alone is introduced into the sample ionization chamber 1 and also reacting gas alone is introduced into the reacting gas ionization chamber 2. Reacting gas is ionized in the reacting gas ionization chabme 2 and then the reacting gas ion is introduced into the sample ionization chamber 1 by the ion- drawing electrode 7 to combine the reacting gas ion with sample mole cules. Then, the resulting chemical ions are drawn out of the ion-drawing electrode 5 provided to the sample ionization chamber 1 and then sent to a mass analyzing space.
