Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a polyvinyl chloride having improved processability, requring reduced amounts of plasticizers, and giving a low-viscosity paste, by carrying out the polymerization of an emulsion composition of vinyl chloride monomer, etc. composed of specific amounts of several kinds of emulsions each containing different concentration of a polymerization initiator.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Vinyl chloride or a monomer mixture consisting mainly thereof is homogeneously dispersed in water in the presence of (B) an emulsifier (e.g. an alkylsulfonic acid salt) and (C) a polymerization initiator soluble in the monomer (e.g. benzoyl peroxide), and polymerized at a state that the emulsion contains two or more emulsions wherein the concentration of (C) on the basis of (A) differs ≥3 times each other. For example, a composition comprising 15W70 wt% of the monomer in the emulsion having a lower concentration of (C), 30W 85wt% of the monomer in the emulsion having a higher concentration of (C) and 0W55wt% of the monomer in the emulsion having a concentration deviated from the above relation, is polymerized.
