Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent sticking of scales, in the polymerization of a vinyl monomer in an aqueous medium, by polymerizing the vinyl monomer in a polymerizer, which is coated with an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble cationic polymer and a water-soluble anionic dye.
CONSTITUTION: In the polymerization of a vinyl monomer in an aqueous medium, the inside wall of the polymerizer and the other parts, with which the monomer comes into contact, are previously coated with an aqueous solution containing (A) a water-soluble cationic polymer and (B) a water-soluble anionic dye, and dried. In coating the inside wall of the polymerizer such as that made of stainless steel, it is preferable to add a 3W6C primary alcohol, in addition to (A) and (B) components, to said aqueous solution, in order to improve its wetting property to the wall surface. The water-soluble cationic polymer is polyethyleneimine, polyvinylimidazoline, polydiethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate, etc.
