Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the surface precision at a hub abutting plane of the wheel disk by a method wherein ring-shaped grooves are made in the hub surface of the disk around its hub holes.
CONSTITUTION: After a flat plate is stamping formed, the hub hole 5 is punched out by a punch having a rake therein, some ornamental holes 6 and bolt holes 7 are punched out to get a disk 3 having a desired shape. During this punching operation, a certain amount of strain is generated in the hub surface 4, so that ring- shaped grooves 8a and 8b are formed by a coining press operation in the hub surface 4 of the disk 3 around this hub hole 5. The grooves 8a and 8b show a plastic deformation around their entire circumferences in the hub surface 4 so that the remaining several deformation stresses are eliminated, a spring-back of the disk after performing a planing pressing operation is extremely decreased, and thereby a surface precision may be improved.
