Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the inexpensive treatment which does not accompany secondary pollution by using the viscous materials which plankton in the recovered SS releases as a flocculant at the time of concentrating or separating the SS in the water containing red tides.
CONSTITUTION: The water (a) containing red tides is put in a mixing tank 1, where it is mixed with the viscous material (i) supplied from a viscous material release tank 3 and if necessary a flocculant (j) and these are sufficiently agitated. Thence, the mixed water is sent into a flocculating and precipitating tank 2, from which the flocculated sediment (e) is extracted and is put into a recovery unit 6. Here, it is extracted of portein, sugar and other valuable materials. Part of the sediment (e) is sent into a viscous material release tank 3, into which chemicals (h) such as organic solvent and strong alkali solution are supplied from a storage tank 4 so that viscous material is released from the plankton in the SS. The supernatant (c) in the precipitating tank 2 is removed of the flucculant and chemicals, if necessary, in a chemicals removing tank 5, after which it is released.
