Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the manufacturing process, to reduce the cost, and to improve the breaking characteristic of the product stranded wire, by executing the tempering process after the stranding work, at manufacturing the stranded wire of aluminum- alloy for use of the electric wire.
CONSTITUTION: The rough drawn wire of aluminum-alloy is prepared from the Al- Mg-Si alloy containing 0.2W0.8%Mg and 0.2W0.8%Si. This rough drawn wire is treated with the solid solution treatment, hardening, and wire drawing; and then, after the stranding work, the wire is treated with the tempering treatment at 140W 250°C for 1 min.W10 hours. According to this method, the stranded wire can be manufactured more easily than the conventional process consisting of the rough drawing, solid solution treatment, hardening, wire drawing, tempering, uncoiling and oil application, and stranding work. Moreover, since the tempering is executed after the stranding work, no residual stress remains in the stranded wire, and the breaking characteristic of the stranded wire is excellent.
