Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable arbitrary selection of the heat treating conditions depending on the kind of hollow yarn, purpose, and application.
CONSTITUTION: A flexible PVA hollow yarn film is formed into a specified shape and is cured by heat treatment. Simultaneously solidifying this shape, a PVA hollow yarn film is formed. This method may be effectively used in applications to fit a hollow yarn film in a tubular body in U form, e.g. when manufacturing ultrafiltration unit or precision filtration apparatus. In embodiment, PVA having degree of saponification of 98.5% and degree of polymerization of 2400 and polyethylene glycol (PEG) having molecular weight of 1000 are blended by 95% with respect to PVA, and is heated and dissolved at 100°C, and aqueous solution of uniform 16% concentration of PVA is prepared. This spinning raw solution is passed through ring nozzle and is spun out in solidification bath of NaOH/Na2SO4=80/230g/l to obtain hollow fiber (HF). This HF is cured in treatment solution to obtain dry HF. Thus, heat treating conditions may be arbitrarily selected depending on the purpose and application.
