Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent current concentration in pipe end parts and obtain uniform thickness of plating, by connecting or inserting a different metal pipe which is electrically conducting with the metal pipe into the both ends of the metal pipe, and electroplating the inner wall of the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A copper wire 9 to plated is inserted into the central line of a zircaloy pipe 1 for covering nuclear fuel by means of plastic jigs 3, 4, and metal pipes 10 of at least 10 mm (variable with the inside diameter of the pipe 1) are connected or inserted into the both ends of the pipe 1. Circulating specified copper cyanide solution through inlet 6 and outlet 7, electroplating is appled by using the copper wire 9 as the anode and the pipe 1 as the cathode. Thus, causing the unevenness of plated layer attributable to concentration of the current on both ends parts in the inner wall of the pipe 1 in the pipe 10, a plated layer of uniform thickness is formed on the inner wall of the pipe 1.
