Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate safe drive through a long period by reducing wear of packings, and by minimizing water leakage in provision of a controller to regulate water supply so as to define the difference between the pressure on the side of the rear of packings and the draft pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure chamber 4 having draft pressure is formed between a main shaft seat 2 and a main shaft flange 3. Further, water supply is done by a water supply pipe 9 in the main shaft seat 2. And, rear pressure of packings 8A, 8B, 8C and pressure in the pressure chamber 4 (draft pressure) are measured by a pressure detector 10, water supply is regulated by an automatic valve 11 so as to control the difference pressure of the both to be constant. In consequence, water level in the tail race is abated, when the draft pressure is decreased, since the pressure on the side of the rear of packings is decreased by its lot, the pressure on the side of the rear of packings are prevented from being bigger than its need without changing water blocking property of sealed air and muddy water.
