Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible production of the highly accurate and inexpensive connector by molding with the metal having a precision-worked end face for positioning on one side. CONSTITUTION:Holes 8 for fibers provided to a positioning end plate 7 and holes 9 for guide pins are precisely worked in their sizes and positions as to satisfy the necessary accuracy of the connector. A supporting end plate 10 is for fixing the resin unitl it sets and therefore dimensional tolerances are not required for this but it is made in half-split construction to be divided to upper and lower halves to permit removal after resin setting, to which G-grooves 11 are provided for fixing of fibers and guide pins 13 are inserted into this device, following to which the resin is poured and set. After this, the mold 14 and guide pins 13 are removed and the fibers are cut at the end face. Thereafter, surface treatment such as polishing, etc., is performed, whereby one side of the connector is obtained. To make the other side, the holes of the positioning end plate 7 is perpendicularly opened in the end face and the foregoing process is performed by using the surface on the back side.
