Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the method and device which read images at a high speed by storing reflective originals such as paper as transmittable patterns in an image recording medium and imaging the stored patterns on an image pickup plane.
CONSTITUTION: A reflective original 1 is lighted by a lamp 3 and is imaged as transmittable patterns onto an image memory medium 6 by an imaging lens 4, whereby it is converted to transmittable patterns. Following to this, the image memory medium 6 is radiated by the lamp 3 through a condenser lens 7 and its images are formed on the image pickup plane of a one-dimensional image sensor 5 by an imaging lens 8 and while the image memory medium 6 is being moved in the arrow 9 direction, the images are read. Then, the greater portion of the light transmitted through the image memory medium 6 transmits through the imaging lens 8 and therefore sufficient quantity of light may be given to the image pickup plane of the one-dimensional image sensor 5, hence the images may be read at a high speed.
