Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove distortions and surface undulations and obtain the thin strip of metal magnetic material having stable magnetic chracteristics and smooth surfaces by heat treating the thin strip of iron alloy formed by a high speed quenching method in a non-oxidative atmosphere while applying tension thereto. CONSTITUTION:Alloys such as Fe-Al, Fe-Si, Fe-Al-Si, etc. are loaded into a nozzle 1 and are melted by the high frequency induction heating generated by a high frequency coil 2. The molten alloy is pressed with the pressurized gas through an inlet 3 and is spouted onto the surfaces of the rolls 5, 5' revolving at high speeds, whereby it is quenched on the roll surfaces and a thin strip of thicknesses 10-200mu is formed. This thin strip is heat trated in a non-oxidative atmosphere such as of He, Ar, N2, H2 or other at 700-1200 deg.C, preferably 900-1200 deg.C, while being applied with tension, whereby the thin strip of metal magnetic material is obtained. The tension is suitably 0.1-40kg/mm<2>, particularly 1-20kg/mm<2> and the heating time is usually 0.5-20hrs.
