Abstract
PURPOSE:To change the damping characteristic automatically according to the weight of load of a vehicle by making variable the area of port at the inlet for a damper valve linked to the motion of a sleeve. CONSTITUTION:A port 22 is formed at flange part 14a of a sleeve 14. When the vehicle is unloaded, the upper chamber 6 and the lower chamber 7 are in communication each other through a constant orifice 19 and through a port 8 and constant orifice 9 in the piston and also a shrinkage side damper valve 10. When the sleeve is, in loaded condition, heaved by a locating spring 15, the oversurface of flange part 14a of the sleeve 14 is pressed against the undersurface of piston 4, to put the upper chamber 7 and the lower chamber 7 into communication each other only through the port 22 formed in the flange 14a, leading to the port 8 and constant orifice 9 of the piston 4 and also to the shrinkage side damper valve 10.
