Abstract
PURPOSE: To equalize the heat dissipating coefficient of resistors in a contact combustion type gas detector and eliminate the drift thereof due to the voltage variation by equalizing the construction, size, resistance and surface color of a compensating resistor to those of an active resistor.
CONSTITUTION: This contact combustion type gas detector contains an active resistor fabricated by adhereing refractory powder such as alumina onto fine platinum coil and coating the surface thereof by catalytic material such as vanadium oxide, and an inactive or compensating resistor not coated with the catalytic material thereon in a bridge configuration. The resistor coated with the catalytic material generally exhibits black or brown black on the surface, while the resistor not coated with the catalystic material generally exhibits white or the like. Since the heat dissipating coefficients of both the resistors are compared so that the heat dissipating loss of the black resistor is abruptly increased at higher temperature, noncatalytic pigment is coated on the compensating resistor to equalize the surface colors therebetween.
