Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title catalyst for the production of a polymer having narrow molecular weight distribution, by reacting an active-hydrogen-containing hydrocarbon with specific combinations of compounds comprising Li, a polycyclic or condensed-ring hydrocarbon, a vinyl aromatic compound, a conjugated diene compound, and an oligomer dilithium.
CONSTITUTION: The objective catalyst is prepared by reacting (A) an active-hydrogen-containing hydrocarbon such as toluene and diphenylmethane, (B) Li, (C) a polycyclic or condensed-ring hydrocarbon such as biphenyl and phenanthrene, (D) a vinyl aromatic compound such as α-methylstyrene and vinyltoluene, (E) a conjugated diene compound such as piperilene and hexadiene, and (F) an oligomer dilithium, at a combination selected from (A)+(B)+(C)+(D), (A)+ (B)+(C)+ (E), (A)+(B)+(D), (A)+(B)+(E), and (A)+(F), in a polar solvent, at - 20W+40°C for 2W8hrs.
