Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:o-(2,6-Dichloroanilino)-α-hydroxyphenylacetic acid I and its salt with inorganic and organic bases.
USE: An antiphlogistic agent and a synthetic intermediate of diclofenac.
PROCESS: A compound (I) is prepared by hydrolyzing a new compound (II) with an alkali, e.g. sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc., in a solvent, e.g. water, an alcohol, etc., or by reducing a compound (III) in a solvent, e.g. isopropyl alcohol, etc., in the presence of an aluminum isopropoxide.
