Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A dithiol phosphate of formula I (R is lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: O,S-Diethyl S-n-propyl phosphorodithiolate.
USE: Rapid- and long-acting agent for controlling rice blast. Effective by applying to the water surface or to the soil, rather than applying to leaves. Extremely low toxic to man, cattle and fish. Non-phytotoxic to crops, and non-accumulating to the plant.
PROCESS: The compound I is prepared by reacting, e.g. a compound II (M is alkali metal; R1 is ethyl or n-propyl) with a compound III (Hal is halogen; when R1 is ethyl, R2 is n-propyl, and when R1 is n-propyl, R2 is ethyl), in a solvent e.g. methanol, at room temp. to +100°C.
