Abstract

PURPOSE: To high accurately measure the rolling length, and to manufacture the long size product with thickness changing in the longitudinal direction in high dimensional accuracy, by obtaining the roll surface traveling distance from the rotational speed of the roll, and by correcting with the forward slip.
CONSTITUTION: The roll's peripheral speed calculator 13 calculates the peripheral speed of the roll 1, and the peripheral speed is transmitted to the forward slip calulator 16 and also to the rolling length calculator 17. The material's outgoing speed calculator 14 calculates the traveling speed of the rolled material W from the pulse signal produced by the encoder 5 and the radius of the detecting roller 21, and sends the result of calculation to the forward slip calculator 16. The forward slip calculator 16 calculates the forward slip from the traveling speed of the rolled material W and the roll's peripheral speed. The forward slip and the roll's peripheral speed are transmitted to the rolling length calculator 17, which calculates the roll surface traveling distance; this distance is corrected with the forward slip, and hereby, the rolling length is calculated.
