Abstract
PURPOSE:To make gate control possible covering a broad frequency range by using a turn-off capacitor charged by an ON gate currnect and an ON-current accelerating capacitor having already be charged with the opposite polarity. CONSTITUTION:Capacitor 4 is set to a sufficiently-large value and previously charged to a value nearly equal to control power supply 1. Capacitor 29 of small capacity is selected and charged by a charging current supplied from capacitor 4. With switch 2 ON in this state, great part of an ON gate current is supplied to the control electrode of SCR8 by way of resistance 6, switch 2, and capacitors 29 and 4. After capacitor 29 is discharged, capacitor 4 is charged to the value of control power supply 1. Next, switch 2 is turned OFF and switch 3 is turned ON in sequence. With switch 2 OFF, capacitor 29 is charged again. With switch 3 ON, an OFF gate current flows from the cathode of SCR8 to its gate to turn SCR8 OFF.
