Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of harmful transitional phenomena at a switching time by switching a magnetic head circuit electronically when the recording bias current is converged to zero approximately at a switching time from a recording mode to a reproducing mode.
CONSTITUTION: When recording and reproducing selector switch 10 is connected to contact P to switch the mode to a reproducing mode, capacitor 17 is charged by power source 9 through resistance 16, etc., and transistors 14 and 13 are turned on and off respectively before the capacitor reaches the charging saturation voltage with a prescribed time constant, and bias supply-side terminal b of magnetic head 1 is grounded through transistor 14, and the recording current is cut off. Meanwhile, capacitor 11 discharges with bias oscillator 7 as a load by switching of switch 10, and the output of oscillator 7 is converged to zero with a prescribed time constant. Consequently, when a prescribed value is selected as the time constant dependent upon capacitors 17 and 11, etc., the magnetic head circuit is switched electronically after the output of the bias oscillator is converged to zero approximately.
