Abstract

PURPOSE:To form the elastic (tension) bolt wherein stress concentrations are dispersed by providing the corrugated part consisting of annular grooves and annular bulges through cold thread rolling between the head part at the trailing end of the stem part and the external thread part of the leading end part. CONSTITUTION:A corrugated part 14 consisting of annular grooves 14a and annular buldges 14b is formed by a cold thread rolling method at the intermediate part of the screw formed with a head part 11 at the trailing end part of its stem part and external thread 13 at the leading end part by an ordinary method. Namely, the bolt blank 19 having been formed with the head part and external thread part is loaded from a feed part 18 and is supplied into the clearance between a thread rolling roller 15 having recessed and raised streaks 15a, 16b corresponding to the corrugated part 14 and a stationary die 16 by a stopper 21 and pusher mechanism 22, whereby the corrugated part 14 is formed. The bolt is then drawn out from the lower outlet 23. Since the above working is by the thread rolling roller, the corrugated part 14 may be given with the shapes of arbitrarily selected heights of undulations, the sizes of groove widths, etc.
