Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture stepped shafts of light weight without loss in material from a raw bar stock of a definite length which is gripped at its middle part and end parts by the dies having required diameter holes, divided in two parts, and located above and below, by pressing with pushers applied to both ends to bulge out the required parts of the raw stock.
CONSTITUTION: A raw stock 1 of which diameter is the minimum diameter in a stepped shaft product, is gripped between upper and lower stationary split die 2 for a middle part gripping having projection forming hole-dies 2-1 and axially slidable moving dies 3 having large diameter-part forming upper and lower split hole- dies 3-1. And, pushers 4 being positioned at both ends of a stock 1 which is gripped by dies 3, the stock 1 is radially pressed by the gripping of dies and compression of the pushers 4 exerted to the axial direction. Thus applying the compressive forces, the raw stock 1 gripped by dies 2, 3 bulges out into the hole dies 2-1, 3-1, transforming to the product 11, having the bulged parts 1-2, 3-1.
