Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of consumed thiosulfate in a wet type NOx removal process using thiosulfate by reconverting polythionic acid formed in an absorbent solution to thiosulfate.
CONSTITUTION: NOx in waste gas undergoes a wet type treatment using an aqueous solution which contains thiosulfate as absorbent liquid, whereby part of thiosulfate in the absorbent liquid converts into polythionate. The polythionate is alkali- decomposed using alkali metal or ammonium hydroxide while considering factors of pH 8.5 or more and temperature 40W100°C. This causes most of polythionate to convert into thiosulfate, and regenerated thiosulfate is again used for NOx absorption.
