Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform effective regeneration with reduced amount of chemical liquid by a method wherein chemical collection pipe is installed in the layer of ion exchange resin and regeneration chemical is passed from the collection pipe toward downstream, then from downstream to the collection pipe.
CONSTITUTION: In regenerating a single bed type ion exchange tower filled with single strong electrolytic ion exchange resin, a new regeneration chemical is flowed from collection pipe 3 installed in the resin layer 2 toward downstream to regenerate resin layer 2 located downstream of the pipe 3. Waste regeneration liquid is, then, returned to the tank 6 via the pipe 12 and flowed from the pipe 17 to fall down the tower 1 so as to regenerate resin layer 2" located upstream of collection pipe. The liquid is discharged from the pipe 3. In this way, the amount of chemical liquid is reduced, regeneration efficiency is enhanced. Furthermore, because the lower part of the layer is regenerated with a new chemical, high purity treated water can be provided.
