Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Heterocyclic compounds of formula I (R is lower alkyl, phenyl).
EXAMPLE: 2-Methyl-5-oxo-7-phenyl-5H-1,2,4-oxadiazolo[2,3-a]pyridine.
USE: Anti-inflammatory analgesic. They have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities.
PREPARATION: The condensation reaction between a pyridone derivative of formula II and a reactive derivative of a carboxylic acid of formula III as acid anhydride or its halide, is effected in a solvent as DMF in the presence of a dehydrating agent to give title compound of formula I.
