Abstract

PURPOSE: A coating composition for cans that is composed of a vinylated alkyd resin, an amino resin and a white pigment, thus having high blocking resistance and high processability and showing high resistance to yellowing.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A vinylated alkyd resin obtained by copolymerization of the monoethylenically unsaturated monomer compoment containing 0.5W20wt% of a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer bearing hydroxyl groups in the presence of an alkyd resin from a starting material containing more than 40wt% of drying or semidrying oil or its fatty acid is mixed with (B) an amino resin so that the weight ratio of A/B in solid base becomes 95/5W80/20. Then, (C) a white pigment is added to the resulting composition so that the content of (C) becomes 20W80wt% on the basis of the total weight of (A)W(C).
