Abstract
PURPOSE: A selective immune enhancer effective against various diseases, capable of improving the ability to produce IgG and IgM specifically without affecting the IgE production, comprising a specific substance, obtained by inoculating vaccinia virus into smallpoxed tissues, as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: The enhancer comprising a substance having the following properties as an active constituent: Brown amorphous hygroscopic powder. Solubility: soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol. Ultraviolet spectrum: λmax=255W275nm. Ninhydrin reaction: Positive; precipitation by silver nitrate reagent; Various protein detection reaction: negative. The substance is obtained by inoculating vaccinia virus into tissues of various animals, cultured cells or tissues, and by extracting the active constituent. Said substance enhances only the ability to produce immune antibody of IgM and IgM specifically with low toxicily, and is useful as treating agents for various infectious diseases, malignant tumors, adjuvants, and preventives.
