Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound having pharmacological and surface-active effects, easily in high purity and yield, by the oxidation of a cyclohexane derivative having formyl or hydroxymethyl groups, in the presence of a silver compound, potassium permanganate, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (R1 is formyl or hydroxymethyl, R2 is H or OH) is oxidized under alkaline conditions, in the presence of a silver compound, e.g. silver oxide, silver nitrate, potassium permanganate, or chromium oxide, in a solvent of water, an alcohol, etc., at room temperature or above, for 3W5 hours.
USE: Antiallergic, antiulcer, and antirheumatic effects and liver function improving effects, as pharmacological ones.
