Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester modified by blending with polyalkylene glycol is made into fibers with specific cross section and further treated with an alkali, thus producing title fibers with high pilling resistance, dyeability and peculiar touch.
CONSTITUTION: A polyalkylene ether of more than 4,000 molecular weight is added to polyester at any stage until spinning to give the modified polyester, preferably containing more than 70mol% of alkylene terephthalate. The resulting polyester is made into fibers so that the cross section satisfies equation I [S is the area of the cross section in cm2; L is the peripheral length of the cross section in cm; d is the denier of filament] and the amount of the polyalkylene ether added satisfies equation II [W is the amount of the polyalkylene ether added in wt%] and the fibers is treated with an alkali at any stage of dyeing process.
