Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the weight and to stabilize the quality, by constructing the core with thermoplastic synthetic resin containing artificial fiber.
CONSTITUTION: Long fiber is immersed in non-saturated polyester resin to produce a long fiber 1 impregnated with resin, then said fibers are bundled to produce a pair of semi-circularly cut members 2a, 2b then they are put integrally in core mold and pressure heated to obtain a steering wheel core integrally formed with rim section 2, spoke section 3 and hub section 31. Said core member is coated with thermoplastic resin or thermosetting resin through injection molding. Since it is made of continuous material having no joint, conventional stress concentrated portion such as welded portion is eliminated resulting in the stabilization of quality.
