Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain highly pure crystals of the title compound with negligibly small loss, by extracting aqueous solution of stevioside with 1H, 1H, 5H-octafluoro-1- pentanol, distilling off the solvent, and recrystallizing the precipitated stevioside.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing stevioside is brought into contact with 1H, 1H, 5H-octafluoro-1-pentanol to extract the stevioside from aqueous phase to the solvent phase. After separating the solvent phase from the aqueous phase, the solvent is distilled off, and the residue is dried. It is dissolved in an organic solvent such as methanol, and recrystallized by cooling at 0°C to obtain the objective substance.
EFFECT: Crystals having a purity of ≥95wt% can be obtained by the use of a fluoroalcohol as the extractant.
