Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a water repellent composed of a specific siloxane compound and a metal halide, and capable of imparting a substrate with durable water-repellency by the simple coating or immersion with the repellent and removal of excessive repellent.
CONSTITUTION: A composition containing (A) 100 parts by weight of a siloxane compound selected from formulas I, II, III, etc. [R1 is alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, hydroxy, aralkyl, alkenyl, halogen; R2 is H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkylhalosilyl; X, Y, X', Y' are alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, aralkenyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, halogen (the carbon numbers of the above organic groups are 15 or less); n is 2W 500 in the formula I and 1W300 in the formula II; m is 1W300; N is 2W150], and (B) 0.05W30 parts of a halide of an element of II, III, or VIII group (pref. chloride of zinc, tin, aluminum or iron).
