Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve offset preventing effect by so applying DC voltage that fixing roller and pressure-contact roller assume the specified potentials.
CONSTITUTION: In the heating pressure roller type fixing device consisting of a heat- and pressure fixing roller 1 comprising providing an insulation covering 3 such as of fluorine resin on the surface of a rigid metal roller and incorporating a heater 4 in the inside and a pressure-contact roller 2 comprising the similar insulation covering 3 on the surface of a rigid metal roller, a fixed DC voltage is so applied to the both rollers 1, 2 that the fixing roller 1 assumes the same potential as the charging polarity of the toner images B and that the pressure contact roller 2 assumes the potential opposite from the charging polarity of the toner images B. As a result of this, a constant electrostatic pressure is generated between the fixing roller 1 and toner images B at the time when the toner images B are to be fixed onto the substrate A. This also generates a constant electrostatic attraction between the pressure contact roller 2 and toner images B, whereby the intended object is achieved.
