Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce offset by properly changing the polarity and charge amount of a roller surface and toner using a corotron etc.
CONSTITUTION: First roller 1 is coated with heat resistant antitack material layer 2 made of Teflon. Since the surface of second roller 4 is made of silicone rubber, the potential of roller surface becomes minus several thousand to several ten thousand volts in friction between toner carrier and the roller surface, as is clear in the triboelectricity series, resulting in acting with tendency to attach the toner with negative carrier to the surface of first roller 1. In order to change the surface potential of roller 4 to a positive polarity, corotron 17 is installed on the circumference of roller 4 and a high voltage of DC 6kV is applied, thus permitting the surface potential of roller 4 to change from minus of plus several kV, and offset to be reduced.
