Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide Ta2O5-free optical glass having a high refractive index and a relatively low degree of dispersion and consisting essentially of a specified amount of SiO2, B2O3 LaO3 and CaO by controlling Y2O3 to a relatively low content and specifying the nd value. CONSTITUTION:This Ta2O5-free optical glass having a high refractive index and a relatively low degree of dispersion consists of, by wt., 32-44% La2O3 and 23- 38% B2O3 as principal components and 3-6% SiO2, 3-5.5% CaO, 0.5-8.5% ZnO, 5-7.5% ZrO2, 0.3-8.5% Nb2O3, 0.5-5% WO3, 0-5% Y2O3 and 0-12% PbO, and it has nd >=1.73.
