Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow cooling action to be effectively displayed with a grinding assistant by a method wherein a sealing layer is provided with at least part of the surface of an impregnated grind stone excluding its grinding surface.
CONSTITUTION: A sealing layer 3 is provided on the periphery of each segment 20 for a segment grind stone 2. When a grinding assistant inside of the grind stone is fused because of the temperature rise of the grind stone 2 caused by grinding heat during grinding work, the assistant is apt to disperse toward the peripheral side due to the centrifugal force. However, the assistant is prevented from dispersing because it is caught by the sealing layer 3 located on the periphery. Since the sealing layer is provided on part of the surface of the impregnated grind stone, excluding its grinding surface, dispersion of the assistant is prevented, while cooling action is effectively displayed.
