Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a paint composition for molds which is capable of providing steel ingots requiring no grinding process for flaws, from an alkali-neutralized product of a polymer composed of a specified unsaturated acid and a specified unsaturated compound and an inorganic compound emitting a gas at a specified temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An alkali-neutralized product (I) of a polymer, composed of 10W 95wt% one or more unsaturated acids (a) selected from acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, maleic acid, and itaconic acid and 90W5wt% unsaturated compound (b) of the formula (where R1 is H or methyl group, R2 is a C2WC3 alkylene group, and R3 is H or a C1WC3 alkyl group), is mixed with an inorganic compound fine powder (II) emitting a gas at 300W1,000°C in a proportion of 5:95W95:5 by weight. The alkali-neutralized product (I) used may include a copolymer of an unsaturated acid (a) and an unsaturated compound (b) or a mixture of polymer (A) of unsaturated acid (a) and polymer (B) of unsaturated compound (b).
