Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a transferred picture having an appearance very similar to that of precious metal by sequentially laminating a water-soluble sizing material, paints for ceramics use, mica and an overcoat in said order.
CONSTITUTION: The water-soluble sizing material such as dextrin, starch, gum arabic or the like is coated on a water-absorbing base paper to produce the first layer, and then the paint for ceramics use containing pigments consisting of low- melting glass and metal oxides is printed on the first layer by screen printing or off-set printing to produce the second layer. The third layer is an important part for producing the color of precious metal or other metallic hue and is produced by coating titanium oxide on the surface of the mica having a grain size of about 5W150μ by a method such as vacuum deposition. Further, the overcoat layer of a methacrylic acid ester is provided at the forth layer. The transfer paper thus obtained can produce the transferred picture having the appearance closely similar to that of precious metal without using the precious metal, and the hue of the pattern to be transferred can be varied freely.
