Abstract
PURPOSE: To miniaturize a fermenter as well as permit the automatic and continuous treatment of sludge by a desired fermentation method in which sludge supplied to a fermentation tank is stirred and granulated finely by rotary rake and the granulated sludge is dropped through a cutback floor into the lower hopper.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge supplied to the upper part of a fermentation tank 1 is mixed and granulated finely by the slow rotation of a rotary rake 2 whose two parallel shafts 2a are provided with a large number of projected blades 2a, during which the sludge is subjected to fermentation for a desired period of time. Then, the sludge is cut back by the rotation of plural cutback floors 3 and dropped into the lower hopper 5, where it is subjected to a desired fermentation treatment. After the completion of fermentation, the sludge is carried out by a carry-out device 6 provided at the inside bottom of the hopper 5.
