Abstract

PURPOSE:A detergent for a tooth or artificial denture, having a powerful removing effect on tobacco tar with high safety, and comprising phytic acid or a derivative thereof as an active constituent. CONSTITUTION:A detergent for a tooth or artificial denture comprising 0.1- 50wt% phytic acid (myo-inositol hexaphosphate) or a derivative thereof calculated as the phytic acid, in the form of a solution, paste, tablet, powder or granule. A tooth or denture on which tobacco tar is deposited is coated, brought into contact or brushed with the detergent to swell and remove the tar. Although powerful in showing the removing effect on the tar in a wide pH range, the phytic acid. is preferably used with safety in a pH range of 4-8 in the mouth adjusted by a pH adjustor. The acid extracted from a food, e.g. a grain, has the very high safety for the human body.
