Abstract

PURPOSE: To unnecessitate the forward/backward running change-over switch and forward/backward running change-over contactor conventionally used for a motor by a method wherein a coupling clutch for change-over between forward running and backward running is provided on a shift of a transmission gear arranged in a carrier.
CONSTITUTION: The driving device comprises: a motor 2 placed on the upper surface of a support frame 1 provided on the chasis; a carrier 3 rotatably supported on the lower surface of the support frame 1; and a driving wheel rotatably provided at the lower portion of the carrier 3. The driving wheel 4 can be rotated together with the carrier 4 by a steering gear 21. A transmission gear 5 is installed in the carrier 3, and a coupling clutch 7 of which the rotating direction is fixed and which can slide in the axial direction is provided on the shaft 6 of the transmission gear 5. The change-over between the forwrd running and the backward running of the vehicle is effected by changing over the engagement of the coupling clutch 7.
