Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned cylinder wit high roundness by a method wherein a thickness deviation is minimized by removing an excess resin component on the surface of a cylinder through machining after a primary heating to hardening, and then a secondary heating to hardening is further applied thereon at high temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: A resin wound round a cylindrical metallic pattern together with fiber loses viscosity temporarily in accordance with a temperature rise by heating for hardening, and thus it exudes to the cylinder surface. The excess resin becomes 0.2W20mm thick normally. The excess resin on the surface of the cylinder obtained after a pimary hardening is removed through machining, and a secondary hardening is carried out at temperatures (20W100°C) higher than the primary hardening. Residual stress and strain due to the excess resin on the surface are removed thereby, and a fiber-reinforced plastic cylinder with high roundness can be manufactured by cooling it slowly after hardening.
