Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a modified phenolic resin having high low-temperature punchability and excellent dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent, by using a polyester composed of adipic acid, phthalic acid, and propylene glycol as a modifier together with other modifier.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polyester synthesized from adipic acid, phthalic acid and propylene glycol, is added together with (B) a conventional modifier composed of (a) a bifunctional phenol (e.g. nonyl phenol), (b) a polypropylene glycol derivative (c) a polyethylene glycol derivative and (d) monoglycidyl ether of a 9W20C aliphatic alcohol, to a resol-type phenolic resin or varnish containing the same. The amount of the component (a) is 10W40g per 1mol of the phenol, the amount of the component (b) is 0.6W0.8pt.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the sum of the components (c) and (A), the total amount of the components (a), (b), (c), and (A) is 80W110g per 1mol of the phenol, and the amount of the component (d) is pref. 5W30 PHR based on the modified phenolic resin.
